Bachelor's degree required; degree in a scientific area such as computer science or engineering preferred.

Well-qualified applicants will have the following preferred experience:
*Basic computer skills and knowledge of Unix and Linux systems.
*Knowledge and/or certification in a radio-technologist program desirable.
*Eagerness to learn new techniques in the field of MRI scanning.
*Excellent customer service skills.
Principal duties:
The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of only 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.
The Waisman Brain Imaging Core is a state-of-the-art imaging facility. Its primary mission is research with an emphasis on functional brain imaging. The focus of this position will be working alongside researchers and physicists on the acquisition of MRI images. With training, the incumbent will be able to modify and operate the unique imaging and data acquisition instrumentation and equipment used in MRI research.
Primary duties include:
* 50% - Pursue research and make contributions as a collaborator on research projects by acquiring data using the GE X750 3.0T MR scanner for functional MRI studies. Provide expertise to faculty and academic staff researchers regarding acquisition, scan duration, use of MR equipment, and safety screening procedures.
* 15% - Provide technical expertise for modification and maintenance of unique imaging and data acquisition instrumentation for MRI research. Confirm image quality and archive data.
* 15% - Maintain detailed records for MRI scans including imaging protocols, radiologist reviews, billing forms, and scan logs. Evaluate incoming MRI protocols as part of the MR users committee.
* 10% - Work with investigators and staff on MRI acquisition parameters, address and report any experimental design issues including image quality and/or equipment issues.
* 10% - Perform general lab functions, including maintaining supplies, updating records, and keeping MRI area organized and clean.
Additional Information:
This position will be filled at 50% time. The typical schedule for this position is 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on week days and includes weekends with hours between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
