The editors of HAU would like to cordially invite you and your colleagues to join us in celebrating our forthcoming two-year anniversary during the AAA meetings this year in Chicago!
In the ceremonial spirit of the HAU feast, we are planning an informal night of drinks and anthropological fellowship with our Editorial Board, authors, guest editors, and friends on Thursday, November 21 @ 10:00 pm. HAU will be set up at Kitty O'Sheas -- the pub in the Hilton Chicago (AAA conference hotel) -- to meet everyone, talk about our future plans, and celebrate our successes. Please do come and join us. Have a drink. Chat anthropology. Chat open access. Or just enjoy an evening of respite from the chaos of the meetings.

We have been working diligently with the renowned web and graphic designer Maarten Ottens (http://www.maartenottens.com) to bring you a brand new website, a revamped look, and an improved user interface. Our Open Access treasures will soon be easier to access, navigate, and download. We plan to launch our website soon, so keep your eyes posted and keep visiting www.haujournal.org for any new updates.
In early 2014, we will be releasing Volume II of our Classics in Ethnographic Theory Book Series. This time we are offering you a real treat: Valerio Valeri's Rituals and annals: Between anthropology and history, guest edited and introduced by Rupert Stasch (UCSD). The volume will showcase some of Valeri's finest essays on kingship, ritual life, laughter, mourning, and everything in between -- including some spectacular works on the historical anthropology of Hawaii and Tonga.
The free gifts keep coming. Over the next year, our flagship journal will be bringing you more of our popular Book Symposia, more stellar peer-reviewed articles, colloquia, fora, reprints, and translations, and more amazing Special Issues. Last but not least, HAU is working with a press to make available our book series and special issues in paperback!
