Hi Peter
We have connected glucose meters but the results are not sent into
either our HIS or LIS but are downloaded into a database in our Trust
server room. Some users, mainly in diabetes department, have access to
this database via our extranet and logs all the information re lot
numbers, who carried out the test, Patient ID, result etc. The results
are also entered into the patient notes and/or charts.
We do the same, albeit to a different database, for our blood gas
analysers.
The second stage will be to have them connected into the electronic
patient record but due to current financial constraints this will not be
anytime soon.
Regards
Sheila

Sorry to bother you all, we do not have connected glucose meters at the
moment. Just a quick question, do you report these results into your LIS
and is it a requirment that all POCT results are entered electronically.
