Fran Scott
‘Is Explaining Complex Physics to Children Just Child’s Play?’
-----------------------------------
As Einstein reputedly said “If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.” …So, exactly how do you explain Binary to a six year old? Or Archimedes’ principle to those who don’t yet know the word ‘density’? Fran explains the unseen processes involved in producing the playful and entertaining science you (and your children) see on your television screens.
Fran is a science and engineering presenter, currently presenting for Children's BBC, BBC Worldwide and BBC Learning. You may have seen her on Imagineers, Absolute Genius with Dick and Dom or You Too Can be An Absolute Genius; where she investigated the latest science, tried the newest inventions and generally caused science havoc... but with learning being her ultimate goal. Her latest high-octane series ‘Factomania’ is due to transmit worldwide in early 2014. Though Fran has recently moved in-front of camera, she did (and still does) work behind-the-scenes, devising clever, novel and curious demonstrations to help explain her scientific point.
