** Apologies for multiple postings **
Dear SBSE authors,
We have received several requests for extensions to the deadline for the special issue of JSS on SBSE.
We have made the following arrangement, which means that the deadline for the full paper is effectively relaxed by two weeks, while the abstract deadline remains as before.
So long as the two guest editors (Mark Harman <[log in to unmask]> and José Francisco Chicano García <[log in to unmask]>) receive an email containing the following information, by the 15th November:
- Title
- Abstract
- List of authors with email address
then the full paper submission (which must be submitted through the journal's website) can take place anytime up to 1st December (midnight anywhere in the world time).
To submit the full paper, please visit the journal website at http://ees.elsevier.com/jss/. Authors should select "SI: Search Based Software Engineering", from the "Choose Article Type" pull-down menu during the submission process.
If the full paper is submitted by the original deadline (15th November midnight anywhere-in-the-world time) then there is no need to email the abstract to the program chairs. However, if you would like to submit, but cannot submit the full paper by the 15th November, then you must submit the abstract and details requested above to the chairs by 15th November, and subsequently submit the full paper to the journal website by 1st December.
We look forward to receiving your submissions,
Mark and Francisco.

SPECIAL ISSUE IN JOURNAL OF SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE
ON SEARCH BASED SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
http://neo.lcc.uma.es/mase/index.php/jss-sbse
================================================================================
CALL FOR PAPERS
Search-Based Software Engineering (SBSE) is the application of search algorithms to the solution of software engineering tasks. Typically, these algorithms come from the operations research and evolutionary computation domains. In particular, they include evolutionary algorithms, ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization, estimation of distribution algorithms, simulated annealing, tabu search, iterated local search and variable neighborhood search among others. The software engineering tasks to which they are applied are drawn from throughout the engineering lifecycle. Some examples are:
- Project Management and Organization
- Requirements Engineering
- Developing Dynamic Service-Oriented Systems
- Configuring Cloud-Based Architectures
- Enabling Self-healing/Self-optimizing Systems
- Creating Recommendation Systems to Support Software Development
- Software Security
- System and Software Integration
- Test Data Generation
- Regression Testing Optimization
- Network Design and Monitoring
- Software Maintenance, Program Repair, Refactoring and Transformation
We invite papers that address problems in the software engineering domain through the use of heuristic search techniques. We particularly encourage papers demonstrating novel search strategies or the application of SBSE techniques to new problems in software engineering. While empirical results are important, papers that present new approaches, concepts, or theory are also very welcome.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All submissions have to be prepared according to the Guide for Authors as published in the journal website at http://ees.elsevier.com/jss/. Authors should select "SI: Search Based Software Engineering", from the "Choose Article Type" pull-down menu during the submission process. All contributions must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. A submission extended from a previous conference version has to contain at least 30% new material. Authors are requested to attach to the submitted paper their relevant, previously published articles and a summary document explaining the enhancements made in the journal version.
