hi charlotte,
thanks for undertaking this project!
here are links to several articles i wrote on the art com electronic network
and other online art networking projects during the early 1990s-2001:
Art Works as Organic Communication Systems -
http://www.well.com/~couey/artcom/leonardo91.html
Line Drawing: Information Intersections and Cyber Cultures -
http://www.well.com/~couey/linedrawing.html
Restructuring Power: Telecommunications Works Produced by Women -
http://www.well.com/~couey/restructuring.html
the art com electronic network (acen) was the brainchild of carl loeffler
and fred truck, who is cc:d on this msg. i participated in the development
of acen and other networking projects within and external to the art world -
the development of communication systems became my primary art practice
during the late 1980s-mid 1990s. i initiated several art networking projects
that attempted to connect communities of people that might not otherwise
interact - some are documented on my website:
Cultures in Cyberspace - http://www.well.com/~couey/cultures/cultures1.html
Imagining the Information Age: Stories/Visions -
http://www.well.com/~couey/stories/here.html
here is a link to an archive of the interactive art conference that judy
malloy and i hosted on artswire in the mid 90s:
http://www.well.com/~couey/interactive/index.html.
you're welcome to post this to your online discussion - i hope to make it
there myself!
all best,
-anna
