Subject: Museum/Academic collaboration in London - request for
potential museum partners on computing oral histories project
Dear Colleagues,
I am the Share Academy Museum Consultant (more information this post:
http://bit.ly/19z78UZ) . We have been approached by Julianne Nyhan who is a
Lecturer in Digital Information Studies at the Department of Information
Studies, UCL. She is seeking a London based museum partner to work on "Oral
histories of computing in the humanities. An exhibition of sound and
ephemera. [She has] collected materials as part of [her] oral history
research. [She'd] like to investigate how they might be combined with
perhaps an existing collection to make an exhibition".
The two obvious places identified are the National Museum of Computing at
Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes and the Centre of Computer History in
Cambridge. Unfortunately, Share Academy can only fund London based museums
(excluding Nationals and ACE the Major Partner Museums Museum of London
and the Horniman). So, does anyone on the list know of a London museum that
might be interested in working with Julianne? Share Academy has grants of
up to £10,000 to distribute (closing date 25/10/13) that could be used to
support the project (subject to successful application).
If you can reply to me off list that would be great.
KInd Regards
Paddy
