I hope you'll excuse me for highlighting our new Metadata and Systems Librarian post on this list, but as we use quite a bit of open source software at Durham there is a little justification! The role combines responsibility for various systems (including the Millennium LMS) with a wide-ranging metadata policy role covering books, e-resources, special collections and museums. We aim to build a coherent search system for all our resources as we implement the Primo discovery system from Ex Libris over the next few months.
On the open source front, we are about to go live with the link resolver front-end Umlaut, and we have big plans to consolidate our research and special collections repositories, perhaps by deploying a user interface front-end such as Hydra on our existing Fedora Commons repository. Further in the future, we will be looking at the next move for our Library Management System, and at this stage all options are on the table.
Please see http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/AHN355/metadata-and-systems-librarian/ for further details, and do pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested.
