This is an open invite to next week's ILIG informal at 18.00 on 9th October at CILIP when we will be joined by two speakers from Book Aid. There will be time for questions and networking afterwards. All welcome - details below.

Title: Approaching 60, stronger than ever. New initiatives for children's libraries in Africa

Book Aid International aims to increase access to books and support literacy, education and development in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2012, Book Aid International provided 548,018 new books to over 2,000 libraries and, since its inception in 1954, has sent more than 30 million books to partner libraries.
Judith Henderson and Stevie Russell will provide an overview of how Book Aid International operates, how they got involved and the roles that they play within the organisation. They will discuss how the charity has evolved over recent years and will concentrate on current projects including their first digital project in Kenya and a special celebration for 2014 which aims to develop 60 children's corners in 10 libraries in each of 6 countries to mark the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Book Aid International.
