Lyme Disease Conference London
Public Health England (PHE) conference on Lyme disease will provide an opportunity to discuss the latest research and developments in the field of Lyme disease, an infectious disease that can lead to very serious health problems, if left untreated. This conference will provide an opportunity for partners from a wide range of disciplines to work together to explore patients' needs, and discuss issues ranging from long-term symptoms and infections of the nervous system, to testing methodologies.
The conference will be opened by the Countees of Mar who has an interest in Lyme disease and its treatment. Speakers include Dr Tim Brooks, head of PHE's Rare and Imported Pathogens Laboratory, Dr Emma Watson, Head of Service at the Scottish Toxoplasma Reference Laboratory and National Lyme's Disease Testing Service, and Dr Matthew Dryden, a consultant microbiologist at Winchester's Royal Hampshire County Hospital (who is working with PHE to set up the UK's first a Lyme clinic) as well as representatives from Lyme disease support groups.
Who should attend?
The event will feature public health specialists from a variety of different backgrounds from across the UK, and will be of interest to clinicians, GPs, infectious disease specialists, as well as members of the public with an interest in Lyme disease. We anticipate this conference will become one of a series of events to give health professionals and interested parties the opportunity to discuss research and developments in the field of Lyme disease.
