Dear feminists and LGBTIQ activists,
We kindly invite you to apply for participation in the DISCOVER FOOTBALL Conference 2013 on women’s football in Central Asia and Europe. Please feel free to spread the invitation.
The conference will take place from 10th to 15th December 2013 in Berlin, Germany. Main goals of the conference are to exchange our experiences with and learn about how to strengthen and empower girls and women in and through football and to develop strategies for a football without discrimination/a more inclusive football in Central Asia and Europe. We also want to develop recommendations how FIFA, UEFA and national football federations can better support women’s football. Results of the conference will also be collected in a good practice guide on empowerment through women’s football.
DISCOVER FOOTBALL advocates for a world in which girls and women can do sports without being discriminated against for their sex, gender, sexual orientation, skin color or any reason. The Association Fußball und Begegnung e.V. (Football and Exchange) was founded by committed football enthusiasts who use sport as a tool to empower women and promote intercultural understanding. We organize international exchanges, conferences and tournaments where women and girls build skills and share knowledge that will help them gain autonomy, mobility and power. This non-profit organization relies largely on the voluntary work of (homosexual and heterosexual) women, making it unique in the world of football. Our work has been recognized by the UN special advisor on Sport for Development and Peace, Mr. Willi Lemke, the German Football Association‘s Steffi Jones and Theo Zwanziger as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
