The process itself is relatively straightforward, but a lot depends on
how your Blackboard enrolments are managed.
We create a new course to merge the others into; either a new, blank
course (if there is no content that needs to be retained), or a copy
of one of the courses (if there is material to be persisted). Note
that student-related data will not be retained (eg marks in the Grade
Centre). We then edit the new course, where you are able to select the
courses that you want to merge the enrolments of into the new parent
course. Once this edit is submitted, then the enrolments will all be
synchronised, and the students will only see one course - they'll
still see it named as the child course they were enrolled in
originally, but clicking through will take them into the parent
course. Staff will still be able to see all the courses, but the child
courses are clearly marked as such.
One point to note is that there are various known issues caused by
having users with disabled enrolment in child courses when they are
merged. If it's possible, I'd recommend deleting all disabled
enrolments (if any exist) in the child courses before merging them.
That's about it. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
Yours,
Hanrahan Highland
