There is an old Asphalt plant at Blackaller quarry near Drewsteignton Devon.
I last visited the site around ten years ago. The plant is of wooden
construction along with the remains of the old crushing plant. There are
some 28 day later reports and photos on the net.
The oldest plants that I have seen working in Devon were made by Bristows,
there was one at Venn Quarry Barnstaple, Pitts Cleave Tavistock, and one at
Tor Quarry East Alington. There may well be drawings of these plant in the
works archives somewhere.
There was an older plant at New England Quarry Yealmpton. This could well
have been a Bristows plant.
Other plant manufacturers include Barber Greene, Parker, Braham Millar,
Stothert and Pitt. Barber Greene are still trading as B G Europa.

Subject: early ashphalt works
Has anyone got any information regarding early asphalt works attached to
quarries. Looking for plans, layouts of plant.
Many thanks
