The Department of Quantitative Economics at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics invites applications for a tenure track Assistant/tenured Associate professorship of Econometrics.  

Job description

The applicant will be appointed as a tenure track assistant professor and contribute to research in econometrics and teaching in econometrics, financial econometrics and statistics both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. If the successful candidate satisfies the criteria in terms of teaching and research experience and proven performance, appointment as tenured associate professor is possible.

Job qualification

(Almost) Ph.D. in relevant area, affinity with teaching, strong research orientation and background in theoretical econometrics and/or statistics, willingness to work in teams, potential to become a leading researcher in the field of econometrics.

Conditions of employment

The position is initially offered for a three-year period and, subject to a positive evaluation, extended by another three years, with the possibility of tenure thereafter. Salary is competitive, depending on qualifications and work experience, between € 3.259,00 and € 5.070,00 per month for a fulltime assistant professorship (12 monthly payments) and between € 4.517,00 and € 6.039,00 for a fultime associate professorship. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday allowance. Non-Dutch applicants could be eligible for a favorable tax treatment (30% rule).

The Econometrics Group at the Department of Quantitative Economics 

The group has a strong research orientation, mainly in the fields of time series and panel data econometrics and financial econometrics. The members teach the undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and econometrics in the bachelor and master programs in econometrics, business and economics at SBE. All courses are taught in English.
Besides the strong focus on research, the group also aims to provide excellent education in econometrics, and has consistent top ratings in the school. The student population at SBE including Econometrics is international, with approximately 60% of students from outside of the Netherlands. Many of the activities of the group are performed in teams, and the group tries to foster such teamwork as much as possible.
