I thought that some list members might be interested to know that Bushy House and gardens in Teddington will be open to the general public on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September 11.00am – 4.00pm, as part of the London Open House weekend.
Normally only glimpsed from Bushy Park, this is a unique opportunity to see Bushy House and gardens, which are normally not open to the general public.
The original house was built by Edward Proger, around 1664/5. From 1797 it was the residence of William, Duke of Clarence (later William IV) and his mistress Dora Jordan. It is now part of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL).
*Explore the Exhibition room, the Historic Museum and the Globe room, with its spectacular views of Bushy Park
*Browse photographs from the National Physical Laboratory’s archive, dating back over 100 years
*Learn about the history and residents of Bushy House by taking part in a guided tour round the house and gardens
Entrance is free and access to Bushy House, TW11 0EB is via the Queens Road Gate.
