Surely the issue of a blue badge is not within the remit of occupational health. Mabe the issue of temp parking for work area with a current medical condition. We are not here to police other organisations and we are not privvy to the full facts

When I worked for a
council the criteria I worked with them on for staff wanting
‘disabled parking’ was they could have it if
they had a blue badge or apply
for a 3 month temporary permission from OH if temporarily
disabled through injury but they could only have 3
months.
They had to be
referred by their manager which meant that they were
assessed for all the aspects of work that their injury
impacted on or shut them up if they
wouldn’t go to their managers. They were not allowed
to self refer which kept drastically reduced the numbers of
applicants.

Criteria
Not really
an OH issue, but it is a mystery to me.....
Parking is a very contentious issue at one of my client
sites, quite simply - there are not enough spaces to go
around so the quest for a "blue badge" or
referrals to OH for support for a space for "medical
reasons" is a daily irritation. I never fail to be
amazed at the reasons people give for "needing" a
parking space as close to the front door as possible, and
when the OH team dont support the request as there is no
clinical indications that a space is needed it all gets very
adversarial......

He should
have been issued a temporary one which expired after a given
period as issuing of these goes with higher level of
disability living allowance as was!

Hi
Annette
From the I
formation provided he should not meet the criteria for a
'Blue Badge',
Given the
benefit changes, I would anticipate at his next functional
review it will not be renewed.

Dear Group
Can anyone
educate me please?
A
Scaffolder on site had three foot surgeries ten years ago
following a fall from a roof (26 feet)a bone graft
from his iliac crest was integral in one of the
surgeries.
He is in
full time employment, and there is no identified additional
criteria to his work method statement/risk
assessment.
He
demonstrated inversion and eversion. Medial and lateral foot
movements performed without discomfort, and appears to have
normal function/movement.
Orthotics
were only needed approx 3 years post surgery. He no longer
attends any follow up appointments but is still eligible for
a Blue badge – can anyone enlighten me as to why this
may be
??
He leads a
full active life – scuba diving, Judo etc
