Information wanted! Especially from DRR practitioners.
I have been asked to update my book Disaster Risk Reduction (ODI Humanitarian Practice Network, Good Practice Review #9). The first edition was published in 2004 and there have been many developments in the field since then.
I am looking for case studies, evaluations, reviews and studies of all kinds, published or unpublished, that illustrate and reflect on the practice of DRR in all its dimensions (including things that go wrong), especially in low-income countries and emerging economies.
The first edition was very wide-ranging (you can read and download the whole book free of charge at http://www.odihpn.org/hpn-resources/good-practice-reviews/disaster-risk-reduction-mitigation-and-preparedness-in-aid-programming). The second edition will update these topics, expand upon some of them and introduce new material.
The book was written for practitioners: principally project planners and managers working at sub-national and local levels, mostly in NGOs but also in local government and community-based organisations. It has been widely used by practitioners and quickly became a standard text book on training courses.
Please send material to [log in to unmask] (or if in hard copy, to Dr John Twigg, Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, University College London, London WC1E 6BT, UK.
Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to hearing from you.
John
