Dear MeCCSA members,
We are currently in the process of putting together the next edition of Three-D, the official newsletter of the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA), due to be published in October 2013. Our focus this time will be on the continuing transformation of HE in light of challenges we are facing. We also particularly welcome articles on the Communications Act white paper.

FEATURE ARTICLES: TRANSFORMATION OF HE
Each newsletter has a range of feature articles / commentary pieces dealing with contemporary issues and debates.
The next edition of Three-D will be focussing on the the various transformative challenges HE is facing. We are for example interested in articles on:
* effects of government policy on recruitment to our courses (e.g. AAB to ABB shift for open recruitment, student control numbers etc);
* stemming deliberate suppression of demand for our courses (inc. tension between our subjects and negative press);
* challenges to postgraduate recruitment;
* student transition from school to University;
* Open Access Publishing and possible ways forward for MeCCSA;
* MOOCs and MeCCSA subjects;
* big data and Universities;
* research funding distribution and allocation to our subjects;
* British Film Institute (BFI) funding cuts, and similar similar government cutbacks.
We do also welcome proposals on other topics as well, so please do get in touch if you have an idea or suggestion.
Feature articles can span as many pages as you wish, but in order to make formatting easier, articles should be in multiples of 500 words (so either 500, 1000, 1500 etc). Features like these are usually 500-1500 words. You can also combine an article with an info box or similar. Articles can be accompanied by images.
FEATURE ARTICLES: COMMUNICATIONS ACT
For this issue of Three-D we are also particularly interested in articles on the Communications Act white paper and the continued debate about media regulation, Leveson and Royal Charter(s). Colleagues may also wish to consider issues around press freedom and source protection, in light of Manning and Snowden cases.
These feature articles should follow the same format as above.
SUCCESS AND INNOVATION IN HE
At a time when higher education is increasingly under pressure, we wish to highlight positive examples of developments or innovations within our field.
The focus of these articles can include, but are not restricted to, the opening of new research centres, development of new degree programmes, innovation in pedagogy, new research or teaching facilities, conference reports relevant to MeCCSA, specific individual or institutional achievements.
Success stories should be 500 words long and can be accompanied by images.

We accept advertising from external organisations in Three-D. The current rates are:
Up to quarter of a page (1/16 or 1/8th or 1/4): £225
Half a page: £250
Full page: £300

Deadline for all contributions and adverts is Monday 30th September 2013, although I would greatly appreciate if you could give me an indication as soon as possible if you wish to contribute or not.
