Course outline:
This workshop helps you prepare to contribute to or lead effective collaboration in your organisation

Many employers feel collaboration in their enterprise is not good enough, but they know that without understanding how collaboration works or how to assess their staff's readiness to collaborate, introducing collaborative technology will have little impact.

This workshop, led by a collaboration strategy expert, will start out by examining the ways in which people work together in organisations and what makes the process of collaboration different to other team activities. It then looks at how to identify the potential for successful collaboration and examines current collaborative tools, before looking in more detail at the elements of a successful collaboration strategy.

The objectives of the workshop are to help participants identify the opportunities for collaborative working in their organisation, discover whether and how current technology will help, and define requirements for new technology or changes in working patterns.

Who should attend:
Information professionals in middle and senior management positions in public and private sector organisations who wish to identify strategies for collaborative working and the most appropriate tools to make it happen.

The course is designed for anyone who has a current or planned responsibility for encouraging collaboration in their workplace, whether from the library, information centre, intranet or technology departments

The workshop will enable them to
. Identify opportunities for effective collaborative working
. Chose new collaborative tools or exploit those that exist in their organisations
. Design sound and convincing strategies for adopting collaborative techniques

As proved very popular in the May version of this workshop, participants will see live demos of the most useful tools, and will receive a copy of the trainer's slide deck after the event, augmented with the discussions and discoveries from the day.

About the trainer
Dion Lindsay is an experienced trainer and consultant and frequent workshop leader for UKeiG. He trains most often in the fields of knowledge management, collaboration and social media, and has published practical guides to Business Intelligence (Making Business Intelligence Work in your Organisation, Ark 2011) and Social Media (Best Practices in Social Media Governance, Ark 2012).
