Dear colleagues,
The German subject group at Aston University warmly invites you to attend a bilingual public reading by our DAAD Writer in Residence, Klaus Böldl.
Böldl’s highly acclaimed works offer fascinating visions of some of Europe’s remotest regions. Set in the periphery of civilisation, Böldl’s writings combine a (post)modernist exploration of the individual’s existential crisis with an elaboration of the reconciliatory potential of nature.
The author will read extracts from his latest novel "Der nächtliche Lehrer" (”The Nocturnal Teacher”). English translation provided and presented by Jean Darvill.
Prior to the reading Heinrich Detering, President of the German Academy for Language and Literature and Professor of German Literature at the University of Göttingen, will give a talk on the topic of “Die Wahrheit der Dinge - Erzählung und Kontemplation bei Klaus Böldl” (in German).
All welcome!
Date and time: 2 Oct 2013, 4pm (talk), 5pm (reading)
