Dear all,
Earlier in the summer I mentioned that the GCG were going to start a new blog highlighting the applications of geological collections. Thank you to those of you who sent in details for inclusion. The site is finally up. It needs a bit of tweaking to spruce it up but hopefully it will grow over the next few years to include many examples and reasons why it is so important to maintain geological collections.
http://geocollnews.wordpress.com/
It is not designed to replace the successful news section on the GCG website that can be found at:
http://www.geocurator.org/news/news.htm
The aim of the new site is to be proactive in gathering information on collections use and importance at at time when we are increasingly threatened with cuts and being asked to justify resources allocated to collections management.
If you have any stories you think would make a good subject for a blog item then we would be glad to hear from you either via JISCMAIL or directly through the blog. (There is a form on the "About" link at the top right hand corner of the page).
All the best,
Giles
