Hi,
If you run:
fslval inputfile dim4
this is will tell you how many volumes there are in the inputfile.
If the result is "1" then fslsplit is working correctly and you simply do not have more than one volume. If it is more than one and fslsplit is not producing more than one output then let us know, and include the output from running fslhd on the input file.
