CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR PERFORMANCE PHILOSOPHY INTERIM EVENTS
Performance Philosophy is an international research network for the field of Performance Philosophy. The network is open to all researchers concerned with the relationship between performance & philosophy. See http://performancephilosophy.ning.com/
Performance Philosophy has decided to adopt a biennial conference model, with a view to hosting large scale international events in 2015, 2017 and so on, following on from the inaugural conference in Surrey, UK in April 2013.
At the same time, Performance Philosophy would like to encourage members to coordinate their own interim events to take place in the years when the main conference is not running.
This year, we are able to support:
• 3 x £500 [= approx. 580 EUR, $780] awards for larger-scale interim events to take place in 2014
• 5 x £100 [= approx. 115 EUR, $155] awards for smaller-scale interim events to take place in 2014
Award winners will also be entitled to use the PP logo on all conference materials and offered publicity and dedicated pages on the PP website. The core conveners of Performance Philosophy may also be able offer support in planning and fundraising, as appropriate – so please do indicate on your application if this is something you would be interested in.
Applicants for the £500 award would be automatically considered for the £100 award.
An interim event can take any form, but must be broadly concerned with the relationship between performance and philosophy. For instance, as well as a more conventional conference, an interim event could be:
• A meeting of a Group within Performance Philosophy
• A small scale symposium with an emphasis on discussion
• A practice-based event with an emphasis on showing performance or offering participatory workshops
• An event for students or the general public
• Any other format
*NB. Performance Philosophy is particularly interested in supporting events hosted in countries other than Europe and North America.
