At the Department of Pharmacy, Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry,
Group Professor Klebe, we have – starting from the earliest possible
date for two years – a third party funded position as Postdoctoral
Researcher
The salary will be according to the German Public Service salary scale
EG 13 TV-H.
The position will be established with our project partner, at the
BESSY II Helmholtz Zentrum für Materialien und Energie, Berlin (Dr.
Uwe Müller) to conduct research on protein ligand interactions using
the fragment based drug discovery approach at BESSY II. The aim of the
research project is to establish a unique fragment screening
environment and to utilize this for several drug discovery projects in
current research. This work will comprise the following tasks:
Development, extension and validation of an already existing fragment
library, definition and establishment of a high throughput fragment
screening strategy and set-up of the necessary beamline environment,
validation of the approach on various model proteins, and support of
external users during the application of the approach.
The successful candidate will also be involved in the operation of the
BESSY II bio-macromolecular crystallography beamlines (headed by Dr.
Uwe Müller and Dr. Manfred Weiss) and will take part in graduate
student education.
Applicants should hold a Ph. D. in biological, chemical,
pharmaceutical, and physical sciences and have a background in
bio-macromolecular crystallography, biochemistry, or computational
chemistry. The position also requires the documented ability to
conduct independent research as well as excellent communication and
interpersonal skills.
