Events Officer - Wellcome Collection
Fixed Term 12 months

Wellcome Collection is a free visitor destination for the incurably curious. Located at 183 Euston Road, London, it explores the connections between medicine, life and art in the past, present and future. The venue offers visitors contemporary and historic exhibitions and collections, lively public events, the world-renowned Wellcome Library, a café, a bookshop and conference facilities. Currently in the midst of a £17.5 million development project, you will be joining the events team at a time when business is 'unusual'. You will assist the Events Manager in developing an innovative and lively public events programme. This will include taking responsibility for researching topics for discussion, sourcing ideas from audiences, managing speakers and performers and ensuring the smooth running of events. In addition to this you will work on some research projects for the programme post-development. You will be expected to liaise closely with a wide range of internal and external contacts and make use of venue management and ticketing databases in organising your work. You will need to demonstrate:
* experience of delivering and developing ideas for public events in the arts, museums or galleries sector (ideally within a science communication environment);
* a relevant degree or equivalent training;
* familiarity with topics in contemporary science or medical history, medical ethics and contemporary art
* excellent communication and organisation skills, and an ability to rapidly develop good organisational awareness;
* the energy and enthusiasm to assist in the creation of a range of lively and well-attended science-related events.
Due to the nature of the work, a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously CRB check) will be required prior to appointment.
