Subject: Looking for taxidermy for conservation research

Dear All

I am currently carrying out research for a paper about a novel conservation technique for use on taxidermy that has been accepted for publication by ICOM-CC. I am looking for some help in finding some taxidermy suitable for practical application of my technique for use in the paper.

Ideally I am looking for

• trophy heads for ease of collection/transport

• un-accessioned material or material in consideration for disposal, or from private collections

• there needs to be significant damage to the skin (ideally in an acute area). Skin loss is ideal. For example, I have been applying my method to trophy heads falling off walls onto their muzzle.

If you have anything that may be a potential candidate then please get in contact off list to discuss further.

This would be FREE conservation work so that's a big incentive. I am looking for 1 or 2 pieces.

I would be happy to give further details on the materials and application of the method to individuals (and my CV if you are not familiar with my work). This paper and technique has been developed under the supervision of James Dickinson.
