The Faculty of English is looking for a highly motivated
library/information professional to fill the post of deputy in our busy
Library. Reporting to the Librarian you will have oversight of the
day-to-day operation of our busy, user-focused library service. A
qualified librarian with experience of supervising and managing people,
you will have excellent organizational and communication skills and an
enthusiastic and adaptable approach to librarianship, customer service
and learning support. Relevant professional experience in an academic
library is highly desirable as is the ability to work under pressure.
You will have experience of developing and teaching both users and
colleagues in appropriate contexts, along with an understanding of how
people learn. Excellent IT skills and an enquiring mind with respect to
technical developments are essential. You will have keen analytical and
evaluative skills and a creative and practical approach to
problem-solving. Knowledge of cataloguing standards (such as AACR2 and
MARC 21), and experience of managing automated library management
systems are desirable.
