Colleagues:
A generous grant from a Social Enterprise Development Organisation has made it possible for DUENDE to offer a fully-funded workshop opportunity to a small number of UK artists in January next year. The two-day workshop will be free and some travel expenses can be covered by DUENDE. There are some conditions attached to applying. Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested. Those working within Academic institutions, postgraduates or mature undergraduates are among those who might be interested in applying.
With Thanks
john
This two-day workshop offers a unique opportunity for UK-based performers/teachers to experience Self-With-Others - the approach to teaching physical performers that underpins all of John Britton's work.
In association with Yorkshire Dance - and as a result of a generous grant from UnLtd - there is no cost for participation in this workshop (and DUENDE can cover some travel expenses for participants).
During two-days of physical training you will encounter the basic structures that make up Self-With-Others, designed to encourage physical expressivity, ensemble connectedness, individual confidence and daring and - crucially - the valuing of pleasure-in-learning.
The work will be physically dynamic, demanding and joyous. It is suitable for practitioners from a range of physical backgrounds, including theatre, dance, circus and improvisation.
To apply for a place on this funded workshop:
1. You must be willing and able to engage fully in a physical training process
2. You must have, as some element of your work-life, a role as an educator, facilitator, director or workshop leader. This might be in performance contexts, education, health/social care or therapeutic settings. We are open to suggestions.
3. You must be willing to take part in two short one-on-one interviews after the workshop to consider how you will translate Self-With-Others into your own work context. One interview will be in the weeks immediately after the workshop, one some months later. These interviews will take place in person or via SKYPE/phone.
