Records Management Assistant

As part of a team of nine and reporting to one of four Corporate Records Managers, this role provides key administrative support to the records management programme across a wide range of the team’s activities. It provides an excellent opportunity for an individual wishing work in the records management field at a paraprofessional level before, or while, undertaking professional training in archives or records management.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting day-to-day records management activities, including providing routine advice and support to staff of both Houses on the application of records management policy and practice, and maintaining the team’s intranet pages
• Contributing to the review and dissemination of guidance and internal communications
• Supporting the administration of Parliament’s Record Officer network, including processing Record Officer changes and issuing communications to the network
• Processing records transferred to the Archives from offices across both Houses, ensuring records are transferred in accordance with criteria set out in the Authorised Records Disposal Practice and resolving routine queries
• Managing semi-current records held in the Archives, liaising with depositors to ensure timely destruction of materials in line with agreed disposal instructions
• Assisting with the planning, set up and delivery of records management training sessions
This is a full-time permanent position; Salary Band C3 £21,023 – £25,922. Benefits include membership of a pension scheme, six weeks annual holiday entitlement and assistance for childcare.
