An experimental postdoctoral position is available with Prof. Sztaray in the Chemistry Department at University of the Pacific in California. The project will focus on the application of Threshold, Imaging and Double-imaging Photoelectron Photoion Coincidence (T-, i-, and i2-PEPICO) Spectroscopy to high-accuracy thermochemistry and molecular dynamics. The successful applicant is expected to utilize our TPEPICO instrument at Pacific and travel frequently to the iPEPICO endstation at the Swiss Light Source. The work will also involve designing and building a new ion velocity imaging module for the lab-based TPEPICO, and a collaboration with the Combustion Research Facility of Sandia National Labs on using iPEPICO as a detection method in gas-phase kinetics experiments.
Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physics or a related field. Skills in some of the following areas are desirable: mass spectrometry, electron spectroscopy, vacuum technology, instrument design, computer programming, and computational/quantum chemistry. Candidates aiming for a faculty position at a liberal arts college are encouraged to apply and arrangements can be made to boost their resume by teaching a one-semester lecture course, upon mutual agreement.
The postdoctoral position is for 2-3 years, available from September. Interested candidates should send a CV, list of publications, and the contact information of two references to [log in to unmask] - after reading some of our latest papers at http://go.pacific.edu/sztaraylab.
