And speaking of George Mason University and open source software in
cultural heritage, we made a new 'serendipitous discovery machine'
there this week at their Center for History and New Media's One Week
| One Tool workshop: http://www.serendipomatic.org/ More info in the
press release: http://chnm.gmu.edu/research-and-tools/one-week-one-tool-team-launches-serendip-o-matic/
We launched it last night and because the source code is on GitHub for
everyone to use, Tim Sherratt (@wragge) has already updated it to
include Trove content in the results. Lots of us have been blogging
about the process and expect more information to follow now that we've
revealed what we were making. My posts are at
http://openobjects.blogspot.com/search/label/OneWeekOneTool
I suppose this has turned into an announcement of sorts, so I hope I'm
not hijacking the thread! (For anyone who's emailed me this week, it
also explains why I won't have seen it and won't be catching up until
Sunday or early next week.)
Cheers, Mia

Also if there are any policies out there on using Open Source that would be great. I've already carried out a bit of research but would be interested to find out 'how not to do it'.
