Hi Lucia
Our middleware solution (CIIM) is open source and is used to deliver digital
museum/heritage content online and in gallery, both for collections
themselves and also for project-specific content based on the collections.
Some examples of its use in collections online projects are:
Royal Museums Greenwich (http://www.collections.rmg.co.uk/ )
Imperial War Museums (http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/search )
Horniman Museum and Gardens (http://www.horniman.ac.uk/collections )
Museum of London
(http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/Collections-Research/Collections-online/ )
Best Regards
Rob

Subject: Open Source in Heritage Contexts
Hi there,
I'm looking for examples of projects using Open Source to develop digital
museum/heritage products. I've recently started on a project looking at
developing digital content based on museum collections and sites (whatever
that may be) and want to gather some examples of how it would work.
I'm particularly interested any examples from a Local Authority point of
view and if you had any in issues through your corporate ICT or Comms team
in going down this route. Also if there are any policies out there on using
Open Source that would be great. I've already carried out a bit of research
but would be interested to find out 'how not to do it'.
Thank you,
Lucia Masundire - AD:uk (SF)<http://artsdevelopmentuk.org/>
