Hi all
In response to Anne's question - at Kent all our module evaluation is done online.
The questionnaire format has been agreed by our Learning and Teaching Board. The questionnaire is in four parts, the first part contains ten core questions which all students are invited to respond to, one of which is a Library question - Library resources and services satisfy my needs - we have Likart scale fixed choice responses the pole ends of which are Agree/Disagree.
Besides the ten core questions, Schools are able to add additional questions (we recommend no more than 10) from a one-hundred question bank under three other headings:
Module Organisation and management,
Teaching assessment and feedback
Learning resources.
The following library questions (all Likart scale fixed choice Agree/Disagree) under Learning resources:
* The library resources and services are good enough for my needs
* I could access the online materials for this module from home or on campus when necessary
* There were sufficient copies of core texts/key readings
* The reading lists for essays/seminars/projects were helpful
There is the choice to add open questions - the following again appears under Learning resources:
* How helpful were the reading lists for essays/seminars/projects?
I hope this helps.
Best regards
Anne

Subject: library related questions in module evaluations
Hi all,
I am interested in finding out about the questions relating to library services/resources that are asked in module evaluations at your institutions. The University of Roehampton is currently reviewing how it conducts module evaluation surveys. This initiative is led by the university planning office who are analysing and reporting on data to academic and support departments. This is an opportunity for us to review and improve the library related questions with academic staff and students. In the library we use this information to enrich the data that we get from our NSS survey.
Currently two quantitative type questions are asked:
1) The library resources relating to this module have been good enough for my needs
2) I have completed all the suggested reading.
Students then typically raise library issues in these free text questions:
• What have been the most useful resources used during this module?
• What is good about moodle?
• What can be improved?
If you are willing to share it would be great to know:
1) Examples of questions you ask
2) How you use this information.
I will collate and share results in September.
Best Wishes,
Anne
