About the Business Line – Environment
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.
Job Description
In order to support the continuing growth of our GIS business, AECOM’s Environment Business Line is looking to recruit a Graduate GIS Consultant based within our Newcastle office.
The Environmental GIS Practice Area is a small and dispersed, but rapidly expanding team, of dedicated and enthusiastic GIS specialists. Our goal is to deliver high quality, innovative spatial products to support AECOM’s business lines and our wide range of external clients in the public and private sector. Along with a relevant GIS qualification, you will require good interpersonal skills and be capable of communicating effectively both face to face and through a variety of media.
Our key sectors of work are renewable energy, oil & gas and planning.
Job Responsibilities:
Support multidisciplinary EIA projects with a particular focus on Wind Farm development and site design
Collation and processing of project data from a wide variety of sources
Spatial database management and maintenance, including metadata creation
Preparation and GIS input into technical reports
Preparation of detailed engineering design information
Address-match geocoding
Candidate Requirements:
Degree in Geography / GIS or in a subject where GIS skills have been developed
Experienced user of ArcGIS software (10.0/ 10.1)
Familiarity with CAD & MapInfo would be beneficial
Experience working in a client facing environment
Good communication skills
These positions will initially be 6 month fixed term contracts.
