Dear all,
I am resending the mail below, which I sent to the mailist some time ago. Maybe not all of you are on that list, then you will receive this mail for the first time. It is an encouragement to submit abstracts for the conference in Yokohama, so we can spread the ideas in different RCs. This is also an opportunity to correct an error I made in the last email. The title of the roundtable in RC 44 was wrong. You know find the correct title below. The conference is taking place in Yokohama, 13. - 19. Of July, 2014.
We think it would be great if there would be many paper presentation dealing with the relationship of labour and the environment in different research committees. In RC 44 to which we belong, there are now two possibilities to submit papers (see below). Jacklyn Cock, David Uzzell and I are responsible for the round table session in RC 44. This is a small space, with a maximum of 5 presenters and 10 participants. We want to turn this into a focused discussion on the economic growth model and its ecological implications, discussing the alternatives to growth from an ecological perspective.
In addition to the possibilities in RC44 we have listed some other possibilities where papers on labour and the environment can be submitted, especially since the issue does not tend to appear in those contexts.
RC 44 Labour and Environmental Movements
RC 44 Round Table: 1E Does economic growth mean ecological catastrophe? Challenges for labour
RC 48 Climate Justice? Climate Movements and Climate Inequality
RC 24 Environmental Social Movements in the 21st Century
