Dear Colleagues,
'Caribbean Urban Aesthetics'<http://www.open.ac.uk/blogs/CUA/> is a new project initiated in 2013 by Dr Leon Wainwright<http://www.open.ac.uk/Arts/arthistory/wainwright.shtml> (Department of Art History) and Dr Clare Melhuish<http://www.open.ac.uk/socialsciences/staff/people-profile.php?name=Clare_Melhuish> (Department of Geography) at The Open University, which explores the intersection of aesthetics and urban place at a number of different sites in the Caribbean region and its diaspora, crossing linguistic boundaries.
On 21st and 22nd May the project held its first international meeting at the OU's Walton Hall campus in Milton Keynes.
Eight invited speakers presented short papers on their particular fields of interest, drawn across Anglophone, Francophone, Spanish- and Dutch-speaking contexts.
List members may be interested to know that the conference sessions were recorded by The Open University and that individual speakers' presentations are now available on open access at: http://www.open.ac.uk/blogs/CUA/
