The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives. Within the UK, the British Red Cross operates through 30,000 volunteers and 3,000 staff. Geographically, the UK is organised into 20 Areas, which are grouped into three Regions: Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Isle of Man, North England and South England.
The Museum and Archives team centrally manages the British Red Cross’ historical information assets. It maintains the organisation’s corporate memory from its foundation in 1870 to the present day. The team provides the skills, knowledge and expertise to help the British Red Cross promote its heritage and history and to further its current organisational aims.
