Hi Amanda,
Our hierarchy browser doesn't disappear when entering data - we're using Adlib 7.0, are you running an older Adlwin version?
By the way I guess the sorting of the hierarchy display is based on the occurrence sort order of your field parts_reference, if that has no occurrence sort order applied, your child records will display on the order in which you added them.so it's worth looking at your parts_reference field in Designer, check for occurrence sort.
RE dates displaying on the hierarchy browser, you can configure which fields to display for each record within the hierarchy display, that's done in Designer - I can give more detail on how that's done, if you want to do that and you're a Designer user? Let me know...
Cheers
Stephen

This is the first new full history of Christ Church since Henry Thompson's 1900 contribution to the College Histories series. Drawing heavily on the material in the college and cathedral archives, the book is an account of the foundation, the administration, the teaching, and the lives of the scholars who have lived and worked at Christ Church. 'The Cardinal's College' is available through selected bookshops, on Amazon, and through the college's website: www.chch.ox.ac.uk
