Message from the MIST mailing list.
Dear Colleagues
We would like to invite you to a one day discussion meeting on Monday 9th September, on Upper Atmosphere Science in the UK (see previous email, appended below).
This is an opportunity to engage with the community about new developments and opportunities regarding NERC funded STP. This includes the formation of an Upper Atmosphere group within NCAS, new opportunities for UK infrastructure and possible developments in space weather funding.
Thanks to those who contacted us and took part in the doodle poll. Sadly it is not possible to accommodate everyone's timetables but overall the best day for the meeting will be Monday the 9th September.
Unless we are informed otherwise, we will assume that those people who stated their preference for Monday will attend. For others we really need to know who else will be attending as soon as possible. Please email Andrew and CC a copy to Mervyn Freeman ([log in to unmask]); Andrew will be out of the office for several days next week but will be collating names.
Meeting Time table:
Date: Monday 9th September 2013
Time: 10.30am for an 11 am start
Location: BAS conference room, Cambridge
Agenda
10.30 Coffee available in the conference room
10.55 Welcome - Andrew Kavanagh
11.00 Upper Atmosphere Science and Space Weather in NERC - Ian McCrea
11.30 UK Experimental Infrastructure & Opportunities - Mervyn Freeman
12.00 Model-Experiment integration: A possible way forward - Ian McCrea
12.20 Lunch
13.30 Open Discussion (with coffee break)
17.30 Close
We encourage people to come prepared with slides for the discussion if they have a topic to raise, though we will be focusing strongly on the NERC side of our science.
Once again we encourage groups to try and send at least one representative (though all are welcome) and encourage early/mid career scientists to attend.
Best regards
Andrew Kavanagh
Mervyn Freeman
Ian McCrea
