italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear Jim,
Just to check, but have you read Guicciardini's take on Lorenzo in his 'Storie fiorentine'? That would fit the bill.
Best wishes,

Subject: [I-S] Biographies of Lorenzo il Magnifico?
italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Cari colleghi,
Could anyone be so kind as to recommend to me a biography or
biographies of Lorenzo il Magnifico (preferably late quattrocento or
cinquecento) which are NOT the usual encomiums, but present a NEGATIVE
(even in small details) view of the Medici ruler?
Even bits of gossip, reported speech, i.e. "some say that....., would be useful.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Cari saluti,
Jim Ward
