Recently launched, the DOAB contains freely available academic books in many subject
areas. Actually, from what I can tell, it's just a collection of links to stuff
hosted elsewhere, e.g. on OAPEN.org, and on various universities' and publishers'
servers. For that reason, as links change, reliability may vary. Still, a useful
resource.
Current headcount of books in different subject areas:
History: 294 books
Languages and Literature: 172
Linguistics: 40
Media and Communication: 52
Political Science: 142
