If you have an interest in training researchers how to use computing, software or data, you should attend the workshop for e-Infrastructure trainers on 14 August at the newly opened Hartree Centre.
The goal of the workshop is to create a community of trainers who will work together to improve the quality and provision of e-Infrastructure training. We will bring together a huge variety of trainers so that they can network, share ideas and work on a strategy for improving training.
Research is growing more reliant on computing, software and data (or e-Infrastructure), but few researchers have the skills to make the most of these resources. Training provides these skills, but trainers often work in isolation, which limits their ability.
The goal of the workshop for e-Infrastructure trainers is to create a community of trainers. By working together, trainers will be able to make better use of resources, promote each other's training, share best practice and discuss ideas.
The workshop is organised by the Software Sustainability Institute, STFC, Hartree Centre, Digital Curation Centre (DCC), NAG, EPCC, PRACE, HPC Short Courses and DiRAC.
We are limited to 50 attendees only, so please register now to reserve a place. There is no registration fee for the workshop. Help with travelling expenses is available to all attendees.
The workshop will be based on discussion groups that will focus on issues raised by the attendees, such as:
- Working together to provide continuous training from amateur to expert.
- Ideas for making researchers aware of the available training.
- Improving the understanding and status of training in research.
- Understanding the future of funding for training
- Providing incentives to produce good training materials
