I get a chuckle out of the calls from some senior design folks for all the evidence to be in…that its all about evidence. Is this something that you recommend to your clients?..that they wait and not get moving forward until all the evidence is in?
Most business leaders who have been exposed to even basic innovation 101 knowledge would recognize that as a formula for going out of business in the marketplace of today.
To see this line of logic being seriously suggested by senior folks positioning themselves as design leaders is truly bizarre. That dog stopped hunting years ago in the real world.
How do organizations get moving forward when waiting for the evidence is not possible? This very question represents a large chunk of what goes on in the Design 3 activity space, the practice space.
Standing on the sidelines shouting “wait for the evidence” would not be considered a significant added value in that context.

It reminded me a conversation I had a few years ago with professor Heitor Alvelos form FBAUP about a case with the Portuguese energy company launching campaign for a new corporate image while citing the Big D as a part of its new proposition value. That big D, however turned out to be a Design Wash, a term which I distilled form the fashion industry term of Green washing .
