italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
The editors of Forum for Modern Language Studies are pleased to announce the winner of the journal's 2013 Forum Prize. The theme of this year's competition was 'Literature and Gossip'. The editors were delighted to receive a large number of high-quality submissions from both experienced and early career researchers.
It is with great pleasure that we award the 2013 Forum Prize to Andrew Counter (King's College London) for his essay, 'Astolphe de Custine and the querelle d'Olivier: Gossip in Restoration High Society'. The runner-up prize is awarded to Mary Flannery (University of Lausanne) for her article, '"Sum men sayis...": Literary Gossip and Defamation Law in Robert Henryson's Testament of Cresseid'.
These distinguished articles, along with a number of other entries which were highly commended by the judges, will be printed in a forthcoming issue of FMLS and will be made available online in the near future via:

The Forum Prize rewards excellent scholarship from any of the areas of study represented in the journal. The competition is open to all researchers, whether early career or established. The winning article is published in FMLS, and its author also receives a cash prize.
The theme of the 2014 Forum Prize competition is 'Literature and Terror'. The winner of the 2014 competition will receive the sum of £500, and the runner-up £200. A call for articles and the deadline for submissions will be issued shortly.
