Just look at the figures in the story, the contracts being terminated to
allow the service(s) to be put out to tender (4 hospital trust, 1 mental
health trust & 1 community trust): the expected cost p.a. (£140-160m) - and
the total commissioning budget of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG (£850m
p.a. - at present).
It sounds like a bid to procure around 16% of all services in the CCG by one
or more outside providers.
Does anyone know the thinking behind this - and how this service will be
integrated with NHS services - including general practice - in this CCG?
Does anyone know whether Cambridgeshire & Peterborough CCG is doing its
commissioning in-house, or whether it has employed a CSU?
And if the later, how much control does the CCG have over the CSU?
