We recently submitted a manuscript which utilized FSL FDT abd TBSS tools. One reviewer called our approach outdated and biased and not appropriate. This rejects thousands of papers published that used FSL tools since 2006. We would be grateful if you could suggest the best response to the reviewer. I included his/her critique below:
" On the other hand, the package FSL (which was employed by the authors) offers only LLS (default) or WLLS (optional) methods for tensor estimation, which have been shown to introduce a substantial bias in tensor invariants (Koay et al, J Magn Reson 2006). It is widely accepted that superior estimation methods (e.g. NLLS, RESTORE) or approaches that ensure that the diffusion tensor remains physically meaningful (i.e. positive definite) should be employed in DTI studies;"
