Subject: International disability employment assessment models
Dear Colleagues,
I'm hoping someone can point me towards where I might access information on the kinds of assessment tools used in countries other than Australia for determining a person's eligibility for disability employment assistance. Here in Australia a "treating doctor's report" has been replaced by a computer-based assessment tool (one size fits all model) that can be administer by Assessors with various training/qualifications. It is not unusual to have a speech pathologist assess a person with mental health problems to determine their eligibility or for a registered nurse to assess someone with vision impairment.
What do other countries do in order to determine who receives specialist employment assistance?
Regards,
Janice

I am involved in a project about helping people with LD manage their type 2 diabetes. We are currently conducting a review of existing materials. Is anyone aware of any resources used to help people with LD and diabetes manage their health generally, or diet/exercise?
thanks

Hi Louise,
The Books Beyond Words series might be helpful if you don't already know it? They have a booklet specifically about type 2 diabetes as well as other health issues http://www.booksbeyondwords.co.uk/books
All the best
