There are a limited number of places still available for this years Cycling and Society Annual Symposium. The symposium is an informal and interdisciplinary event, welcoming academics, policy makers and advocates with an interest in cycling and will be held @ the Ty'n Dwr Outdoor Centre in Llangollen, mid-Wales http://www.uclan.ac.uk/tyn_dwr/index.php on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th September.
This year we welcome presenters from Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, The Netherlands, Spain and the UK offering a wide range of topics including:
. Cycling 'subjectivities' in on-going formation: Interviews as political interventions.
. Understanding change and continuity in cycling through life history interviews.
. The Paradoxes of Cyclotourism: constructing and consuming nature.
. What is distinctive about journeying on the 'Dublin Bikes' public bikes?
. Challenge for the next decade in Gyor: Increase of cycling by a public bike system.
. An Electric Future?
. Voice of the Mamils: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of motives, experiences and aspirations of new sports cyclists.
. Urban cyclists' social discourses before and after the cycling boom in Seville: attitudes of long-term cyclists and of newcomers.
. Cycle Mobility in Urban Futures.
. Impacts on road safety and bicycle use of unbundling vehicular and cycle traffic in urban networks.
