A one-day workshop, facilitated and supported by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG), for academics working on neighbourhood planning.
Friday 27th September 2013
DCLG, Eland House, Bressenden Place, London SW1E 5DU
11am-5pm
Our aims are:
• To build a network of contacts with research interests in this field
• To identify research projects underway
• To share early insights from live research projects and identify gaps
• To establish connections between the research, practice and policy communities
• To support efforts to establish a neighbourhood planning movement
We intend to begin with a short overview of the current state of neighbourhood planning before having academics briefly outline their research projects, ideas and insights. This research overview will be followed by a longer discussion, which will aim to synthesize and draw out any common threads/challenges/gaps in these academic projects and policy responses. We will also seek Research Council involvement. The final part of the day will consist of a discussion of how best to maintain and develop these linkages between academic researchers and practitioners, both in person and online.
We will ask academic participants to provide a short written summary of their research project(s) in advance. We intend to map these online as one output from the event.
The workshop is free and has been timetabled to keep the transport costs as low as possible. Some financial assistance may be available for those on low incomes (particularly PhD students if their grants do not provide for travel). Please contact Antonia Layard if you think you will need assistance with travel costs in order to attend.
If you are an academic interested in being involved in this Mapping NP Research workshop please reply to Antonia Layard, [log in to unmask] The event is for those directly involved in neighbourhood planning research and we have capacity for 20 participants.
