The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre is a leader in clinical trials research coordinating and conducting multi-centre and multinational clinical trials involving pharmacological, non-pharmacological or community-based interventions and promoting evidence-based medicine in Australia. Its mission is to improve health outcomes in Australia and internationally through the use of clinical trials research. 

The Boden Institute of Obesity, Nutrition, Exercise & Eating Disorders  is a joint initiative of the Faculties of Health Sciences, Medicine and Science, and is administered through Sydney Medical School. The Boden Institute is committed to reducing the individual and societal impact of obesity, eating disorders and lifestyle-related chronic disease such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, cancer, mental illness and osteoarthritis.Led by key researchers across the University, the Institute unites expertise in basic, clinical, public health and health policy research in the areas of obesity, eating disorders, nutrition, physical activity and metabolic health; clinical intervention and practice; public health programs and policy formulation and implementation.

The CTC and the Boden Institute are working together on diabetes modelling. We are seeking to appoint a dedicated Research Associate or Research fellow to join our team to contribute to the development of micro-simulation models to assess the economic impacts of illness. The health economics team at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre has an international reputation for producing world class economic models including micro-simulation models of economic impacts of illness, models of the cost effectiveness of clinical and long term forecasting. It provides the ideal environment for building a strong academic career within a multidisciplinary environment with a significant impact on public policy and opportunities to develop a wide range of skills. 

In this role you will:
•	conduct statistical analysis of large datasets using SAS and contribute to the development of micro-simulation models
•	prepare papers for publication in scientific journals
•	perform literature searches and management of literature
•	contribute to the project management and participate in project meetings
•	contribute to the other research activities of health economics group.

To succeed in securing this role you will have:
•	relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, statistics or social science/policy
•	post graduate qualifications in health economics (desirable)
•	statistical analysis skills and experience in the use of statistical and data management software SAS
•	skills in literature search
•	track record of peer reviewed publications or similar (desirable)
•	experienced user of bibliographic software such as EndNote (desirable)
•	experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
•	ability to work in a team and manage projects.
